Series' bummers
This is a confession. I've started two series on this blog, both of them are total bummers (or maybe just partial ones).
The first one is called A sweater in the making and I'd promised to follow my progress on knitting a sweater. Instead, in the process of reminiscing about other sweaters I've knitted, I ended up (wisely I must add) going back to knitting the first sweater I've started. Which being close to conclusion is not good material for a post, much less a series. And that first series was left in the freezer after only two relatively boring posts. Bummer!
A lot of time as passed since then and you make ask, why haven't I gone back to that sweater? Well, I actually haven't even finished the "first sweater", although I did make some progress on it. There are several reasons for my slow progress: (1) the "first sweater" is beautiful but boring to knit, which leads to (2) I've knitted a few other small projects in the meantime, like hats and socks, (3) I've gotten carried away designing a new pattern for a cardigan, which I do intend to document here, but progress on that has been slow because it is something I'm designing from scratch, (4) I've started a new series.
The second series I've started is a library of stitches. Don't get me wrong, I like that series and intend to continue it by all means, but the photos, I confess, are a total bummer. The first problem with them is that the yarn I'm using doesn't have very good stitch definition. The second is that I'm just too lazy to take good pictures. The light where I live is not very nice for photography, I don't have anything resembling professional equipment or training, and last but not the least I'm too lazy to spend time on Photoshop. Seriously, I already spend enough time writing this blog, and I frequently reflect on the wisdom of discontinuing it and using that time on other things. But here I am writing one of the most useless posts on this blog…
Changing topic: lately I've been having a crave for pretty pictures of other people's work. I've gotten quite addicted to checking Ravelry all the time. I just love Ravelry's Community's Eye Candy blog posts, but those are sparse in time. So I also like checking what's hot and the project's radar a lot. Last week checking other people's blogs I realized I really like the posts that highlight eye candy the blogger has come across and I had a moment of epiphany. You see, no so long ago, I confessed it was lame to post nothing but a few pictures of someone's work. Now, I've completely changed my mind about it. I'm starting a new series. This one will be about patterns, designers and projects I think are worth to look at, and even possibly knitting if you have the time. My own personal choice of eye candy. Stay tuned.
